Dans cette séquence didactique #15, nous allons travailler 3 verbes très utiles en communication:

La communication est une science difficile qui s’apprend et se cultive. C’est probablement l’élément le plus important pour faire émerger la coopération et la collaboration au sein d’une équipe. Une évidence à méditer quotidiennement: la qualité de notre communication est déterminée non par la manière dont nous disons les choses, mais par la manière dont elles sont comprises.

Certaines personnes ont ce talent “naturel” d’être écoutées… Do you know those people you really enjoy talking to? The ones that make each conversation — no matter how long it is — never seem quite long enough? Chances are, that person is an extremely engaging conversationalist. So, why is chatting with them such a rewarding experience?

They Listen 😊⭐️🎯

People who’re skilled in the art of conversing know that it’s often more about listening than talking.

They Make Eye Contact 😎💡

There’s nothing worse than speaking with someone who continues scanning the room. Skilled communicators understand the value of eye contact. When someone is speaking, they look directly at that person. This demonstrates that they’re devoting their full attention to the conversation.

They Ask Questions 😁🔑

Great conversationists know that they shouldn’t be the ones doing all of the talking. They don’t want to monopolize the exchange, so they make sure to ask plenty of questions. Prompting the other person to dive deeper into certain topics shows that they’re interested in engaging in a two-way discussion, rather than standing on their soapbox and blabbering on about themselves.

They Tell Stories 😁 🤔

There’s nothing more interesting than an anecdote. Most expert communicators are also wonderful storytellers.

They’re Animated ☀️🎬🎭

Telling a story is one thing. But, if you recite it in a monotone voice with a deadpan expression on your face, you’re still likely to bore your conversational partner to tears.

The most impactful communicators aren’t afraid to get a little theatrical with their delivery. They don’t go overboard to the point of being distracting. But, they also don’t hesitate to make use of appropriately-timed facial expressions and hand gestures to bring their statements to life.

They Keep Things Moving

Skilled conversationalists keep things moving along without taking lengthy breaks or spending too much time on dull topics

Define and Explore 💼

Engage with [sth] vi (be committed, involved with)   collaborer avec, s’impliquer. Intéresser, attirer, séduire par son adresse à se conduire en société et à lier des relations avec doigté et diplomatie = to occupy the attention of a person, to succeed in attracting and keeping someone’s attention and interest, to please. If you engage with something or with a group of people, you get involved with that thing or group and feel that you are connected with it or have real contact with it.

1) The power to influence people and get the results you want.

2) To use something that you already have in order to achieve something new or better. To use so as to obtain an advantage or profit. Use something to maximum advantage. To get as much advantage or profit as possible from something that you have.

Lorsqu’elle a été informée de la réponse furieuse de Smith à sa demande, elle a simplement déclaré : ” C’est bien ce que je disais “.

Il y a plusieurs façon de faire répéter ce que vient de dire votre interlocuteur lorsque vous n’avez pas compris ou tout simplement pas entendu. “sorry” est sans doute le mot que vous allez utiliser spontanément. Mais pourquoi ne pas essayer d’aller un peu au delà ?

Une formule toute simple très utilisée pourra convenir: “Pardon?” ou “Pardon me?“

Ensuite, pour élever votre niveau, vous pourrez utiliser: “How’s that (again)” ou encore “What’s that?” et même “Say that again!” = What did you say? / Please say that again / I did not hear it all.
