hang/hold fire laisser en suspens (dans l’attente d’un évènement à venir) Note: similaire à “sit tight” ci-dessus mais peut s’utiliser à l’écrit = to delay making a decision (= We’ll do nothing for the moment, we’ll hold off for a while, we’ll take no further action regarding this for the minute). “Ideally we would settle the matter now, but I think we should hang fire until the general situation becomes clearer” // “I’m going to hang fire on ordering until Tuesday just to give us chance to think it through again”.

To park (an idea, a problem) Mettre de côté; en suspens if you park an idea, problem, etc. you decide not to deal with it until later; to not deal with something or answer a question immediately but leave it for a later time: Let’s park this issue for a moment and return to it later in the meeting. Can we park that question until the end of the session? We have to park the conversation here

give (someone) a nudge faire un petit rappel / pousser un peu / relancer To give someone a mild or gentle reminder, directive, or word of encouragement. Plutôt destiné à créer une prise de conscience et donc à ne pas confondre avec “to chase somebody (up)” ou “send a gentle / a little reminder” ou “a stark reminder (difficile, fort)” ou “just a friendly/courtesy reminder that / to….” etc. autant d’expressions qui ont plutôt vocation à rappeler qu’on doit quelque chose à quelqu’un, et qu’il est maintenant temps d’obtempérer ou qu’on est exposé à un fait non désirable ayant potentiellement des conséquences plutôt malheureuses. “If your friends haven’t already donated to our charity, give them a nudge this year to help in the fight against poverty” // “John is a good student, but sometimes I need to give him a little nudge to do his homework”.
