Cette séquence (que je réitèrerai régulièrement – Part II / Part III / Part IV …) décode des dialogues de cinéma et vous apporte donc un angle nouveau sur l’Anglais parlé car le cinéma est souvent beaucoup plus difficile à capter pour un Français, les expressions utilisées étant très spécifiques… je commencerai ici par une série policère Britannique Netflix “SAFE” (que je recommande, très bon “plot twist” = Un retournement (d’intrigue) de dernière minute).

A barbecue? I can see why you blowing me out…= to disappoint someone by not meeting them or not doing something that you had arranged to do together: rejeter / faire faux bond

…with overbearing parents and whiny kids ? = parents autoritaires, dominateurs et des gosses qui pleurnichent ?

You really wear me out ! tu me fatigues!
…meaning ? …et ça veut dire quoi, ça ?

You go out, you put it on (il parle de “mettre l’alarme” si tu sors). You pop to a friend …Alarm! pop to = to go to a particular place

She just don’t seem herself…elle a pas l’air dans son assiette
It’s just a phase ! ça lui passera c’est juste un cap a passer
And guess what ? there’s a guy on the scene…Chris… on the scene = used to say that someone or something is or has become an important part of a situation, activity, etc

She’s a tough kid, but the grief she’s bottled up… = When a person bottles things up, they refuse to talk about things that make them angry or worried.
She’ll kill you, …that is crossing a line! elle va te tuer… tu vas trop loin (= ça ne se fait pas ce que tu viens de faire)
Hey! There he is Le voilà ! (= il arrive)
You done your assignment ? t’as fait tes devoirs ?

Watch your fucking self fais gaffe ! (a ce que tu dis…)

– Wanted to look nice… je voulais me faire belle – Mmm. It was worth the wait…ça valait le coup d’attendre
Are you off your face ? = Very drunk or under the influence of illegal drugs.
Tonight, of all nights…= pas ce soir! STP!… = its a construction used to mean that the action being discussed happens at a bad time = That night is the night one would least expect you to be drunk.
– You’re wasted… t’es bourré – I’m fucking fine !! Putain je vais très bien je te dis !
I know you’re pissed off with me but just come home = en pétard, en rogne (slang)

Get off me! lâche moi!
Great day they’re going to have watching their father sleeping off a hangover = sleep off = cuver ha,gover = gueule de bois
Get a shower, you stink vas prendre une douche, tu pues
Anything happening ? Get your feet off the desk! y-a du nouveau? vire tes pieds du bureau !
